oscommerce installation guide on localhost

What is Oscommerce ?

Oscommerce is a another CMS (Content Management System) like wordpress, particularly to create online stores.

 Installation guides:

Step 1: Download the xampp from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

Step 2: Open the xampp-control and start the mysql.

Step 3: Then open the browser and type “http://localhost” xampp will be opened.

Step 4: Click the phpmyadmin to create database for oscommerce,

Step 5: Click the databases tab and create the database as “osc” like below,

 

Step 6: Extract the downloaded oscommerce (download link given above) to htdocs folder of your xampp folder.

“C:\xampp\htdocs”

Step 7: Now you have to copy the “catalog” folder from

“C:\xampp\htdocs\oscommerce-2.3.3” to “C:\xampp\htdocs”.

Step 8: Now open the “http://localhost/catalog/install/index.php” and click continue.

 

 

Step 9: Configure the db as like below (Before that, Ensure you have created the db in phpmyadmin, if not refer “Step 5”) and click continue.

Database server : localhost
Username            : root (its the default one, if you would have created any username password, then give           those details here).
Database Name   : osc

 

It will take sometime to configure with db,

Step 10: Webserver detail will be shown, dont change anything and give continue,

 

Step 11: Enter the online store details, Remember the username and password that you are giving here, because with these credentials only you have to login and design your online store.

 

Step 12: Now you are in the final step of localhost oscommerce installation. Please follow the post-installation notes given in this step,

 

After completing the post installation notes, click the “Administration Tool” and start designing your online store.
